This is a 9 week placebo controlled study of Cariprazine in Adults with a diagnosis of Bipolar 1 Depression.

• Ages 18-65
• Current major depressive episode of at least 4 weeks but not exceeding 12 months
• Verified previous manic or mixed episode
• No other psychiatric diagnosis
• Anti-psychotic, mood stabilizers, anti-depressants not allowed (2 weeks) prior to screening.
